How to build a guitar amp that works with a amplifier head?
I want to build my own guitar amp, but I don't know how to, also i would like for it to be compatible with a guitar amp head. If you know anything please help, or post a link that explains how to build it, Thanks-Aaron

What you're really asking is how to build a speaker cabinet and not an amplifier. You already have the amplifier, that's the "head". A cabinet is basically an input jack, soldered into a circuit board. That circuit board has 4 speaker wires going from it. Each speaker wire goes into it's own speaker. (Cabs typically have 4 separate identical speakers, usually 25 or 75 watts.) Then pack all that up into a large wooden box, with a cloth screen in the front to protect the speakers, and voila! You have a cabinet! This requires woodworking knowledge, electrical knowledge, and you have to make sure the Ohm setting matches your head, my advice would be to copy a popular model for reference, such as the Marshall 1960 (model not year) cabinets with 75watt speakers, the most popular cabinets being used (although not the best by far)

How can I safely connect this guitar amp head to these two guitar cabinets?
how can i connect a guitar amp head with 8 ohms to two guitar cabinets which are both 8 ohms. The cabinets are only able to be connected in parallel to the head. This would make the cabinets total only 4 ohms. Then the head and the cabinets ohms would not match. How can I make this setup work?

You're choices are to re-wire the cabinets to change their impedance, or to build a series box that will let you connect the cabinets in series and present a 16 ohm load to the amp. (It's OK to present a higher load to the amp, but not lower). What kind of cabinets are they (2x12, 4x12)? If I knew this, I might be able to help you out more. Good luck. Greetings from Austin, TX Ken

Should I buy a good guitar amp head or guitar first?
I am an intermediate guitarist and I have an okay guitar and amp combo. I want a Mesa Dual Rectifier head and an ESP SV Standard. I only have enough money for one. Which one should I get first?

Without remarking on my opinion of your choices, I'd say that you should get a good guitar first. Of course that really depends on how adequate your existing equipment is now. Assuming that you can get by with both your existing amp and guitar, I'd go for the guitar of your choice. Amps come and go, but your guitar is your lady. She inspires you. You caress her with your hands. The amp is just a skirt that makes her look (or sound) good. Find a guitar that makes you feel good and stay with her. And for gosh sakes, don't choose her for her looks alone. Go to a real guitar store, and play her. Make sure she's the one. No mail-order brides, please! (sorry musiciansfriend!)

Can I use a Mesa guitar Head on a Marshall amp?
I am currently using a MG100HDFX Guitar Amp Head + Marshall MG412 cab. I was wondering If I could get the Mesa Dual rectifier Head and put it on My Marshall cab? I heard from my friend that the Mesa head is too loud for the Marshall half stack and would blow it out. I love the sound of the Mesa Dual rec, but I don want to spend alot of money on another cab... please help.

It's not a question of loudness... it's a question of amps/watts... which still shouldn't be an issue. Most quality heads/cabs are interchangeable. Actually a lot of professionals mix different heads/cabs. Marshall may not be the same as Mesa, but unless your cranking things to max... which shouldn't EVER be necessary, then you're good. If you're playing a larger venue and need more volume than the half-stack can provide, then I suggest either you or the venue invest in a quality PA system and mic your cab. It's a good idea for saving wear-n-tear on your stack by avoiding turning things up too much... no matter what cab you've got, that head will eventually burn-up by being run at high levels. Btw, Marshall and Mesa are my top 2 favs, so that's a killer half-stack you got there. Mesa heads are friggin' amazing.
