Can I use a Mesa guitar Head on a Marshall amp?
I am currently using a MG100HDFX Guitar Amp Head + Marshall MG412 cab. I was wondering If I could get the Mesa Dual rectifier Head and put it on My Marshall cab? I heard from my friend that the Mesa head is too loud for the Marshall half stack and would blow it out. I love the sound of the Mesa Dual rec, but I don want to spend alot of money on another cab... please help. It's not a question of loudness... it's a question of amps/watts... which still shouldn't be an issue. Most quality heads/cabs are interchangeable. Actually a lot of professionals mix different heads/cabs. Marshall may not be the same as Mesa, but unless your cranking things to max... which shouldn't EVER be necessary, then you're good. If you're playing a larger venue and need more volume than the half-stack can provide, then I suggest either you or the venue invest in a quality PA system and mic your cab. It's a good idea for saving wear-n-tear on your stack by avoiding turning things up too much... no matter what cab you've got, that head will eventually burn-up by being run at high levels. Btw, Marshall and Mesa are my top 2 favs, so that's a killer half-stack you got there. Mesa heads are friggin' amazing. KoiDragon | Read more Could I use an 810 bass cabinet with Marshall head? I have Marshall MG100HDFX guitar amp head. I was wondering if I could use an 810, or a 610 bass cabinet for it. Yes, but it won't necessarily sound that good. The primary function of the guitar speaker (besides making sound) is to serve as a simple lowpass filter for the sound. The guitar amp puts out a lot of high frequency crap noise, and its easiest to simply roll all that off by using the speaker. The problem is that bass speakers don't have that much of a roll-off - they'll let a lot more of that high end crap through. So they'll work, sure, but they won't necessarily sound all that great. It's not quite on par with a Marshall cab but then neither is the price. OU812 | Read more Marshall guitar head question!!!!!!? Is the Marshall MG100HDFX a decent amp? Is it a tube style? I'm in the market for a marshall setup and this would be my first stack style guitar speaker/head combo. A guy I know is selling one and I am really want a marshall tube style amp that is decent. I've previously used combo amps, which worked fine while i was learning. but now that i feel im established, i think its time i got an upgrade. avoid anything with marshall mg written on it. "you get what you pay for" applies heavily here. look for a used marshall avt series, fairly cheap and 100 times better than a mg. noxtommorow | Read more |
